Minnesota State of Mind

In fairness, Minnesota wasn’t even where I was registered to vote in that election, but when answering a call for student design entries on the topic “what makes Minnesota stand out,” I chose this as a humorous quote to illustrate because of how pleased I was over how well a martini glass fit into this fine state’s shape. It was just too irresistible to pass up. Way to go, Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers! Formations like you make what I do so much more fun! (No hard feelings, Jesse. Really. Apologies about being drawn as an olive though…) For the record Minnesota, you’ve been great—such an awesome art scene here. Knowing a bit more about the technical aspects of illustration now than I did in college, I just recently tweaked this a bit to clean it up to post online. Cheers!

How funny is Lewis Black though? If ever there was more perfect casting done than there was for Inside Out, I can’t think of any off the top of my head. (He voiced Anger.) Well done, Natalie Lyon and Kevin Reher. (And well done, IMDb, where I can conveniently look up casting directors’ names.)

Check out Lewis’s stand-up routine including this segment on Minnesota and democracy (featuring the quote from this illustration) over on Comedy Central.

You can also check out Ventura who recently made the news in his support of the freedom to peaceably protest. Well done, sir.

My specialties

Design and illustration are my specialties. I’m interested in a wide variety of project types. I enjoy making surface designs and repeated patterns for stationery, fabric, home decor, and giftware. I'm also interested in typography as well as hand lettering. I love Illustration for books, book cover art, album cover design, editorial art, and logo identities.

If there’s a project you’re interested in that isn’t on that list, I love new ideas!
